Plan Your Drop-off

What do I do with…

Know Before You Go

A pile of assorted discarded items in cardboard boxes, including tangled electrical cords, a red appliance, and a scale sits against a dirty, stained wall—reminding you to Plan Your Drop-off for responsible disposal.

Know Your Waste

Determine the material type, so you know where to take it. Do you have regular household trash, or is it household hazardous waste? Save time on-site by checking which materials are accepted and how much disposal costs.

Aerial view of lcswma commercial complex with brick buildings, solar panels, parked trucks, green lawns, and landscaped areas—perfect to Plan Your Drop-off with easy access from the wide road and plenty of surrounding trees.

A large truck is parked on a lcswma weigh station scale next to a small building labeled LCSWMA. A blue sign reads, Plan Your Drop-off: Tarps are required on all loads. Bright, clear sky overhead.

Prepare for Safe Unloading

Tarp all loads or secure larger items before arrival, follow posted signs and staff directions, and wear high-visibility gear so operators can see you on the tip floor.

Waste that cannot be placed curbside can be brought to LCSWMA’s facilities for disposal (disposal rates apply). Not all waste types can be processed at every facility. If you are unsure whether your item is accepted at a particular facility, search for your item in our waste search engine or contact us before your visit.

A person uses drop-off planning as they place flattened cardboard boxes into a large outdoor recycling dumpster next to a parked black pickup truck. The dumpster features clear signs and labels for recyclables.

Residential Disposal Checklist

  • I know the type of material I want to dispose of (Recycling, HHW, Household Trash, etc.)
  • I know whether this material needs special handling (HHW, asbestos, yard waste, etc.)
  • I know where I am going (Transfer Station Complex, Lancaster Waste-to-Energy Facility, etc.)
  • I have read the complete Residential Disposal Checklist (to prepare for my visit)

All Open Loads Must Be Tarped

All open loads must be tarped and secured to avoid a $20 penalty. We ask for your cooperation when delivering loads to any LCSWMA facility. Help us protect the environment by preventing litter from waste deliveries. Not only is this required by PA DEP and all Lancaster County Municipalities, but it also shows courtesy to residents living along roads leading to LCSWMA facilities. Repeat violations will be shared with local law enforcement and may result in suspension of access to LCSWMA facilities.

Safety As A Core Value

All customers entering the tipping area, including vehicle passengers, are required to wear a high-visibility vest or appropriately visible garment (shirt,
jacket, sweatshirt) at all times. If a visitor arrives without proper safety attire, a fluorescent vest may be purchased onsite for $10.
